On summit night in particular, there were moments during which I considered the possibility of turning back before I reached Uhuru Peak but both the motivation I received from within and from my hiking family were what got me to the top.

Leading up to your eventual trek you will likely pour over a myriad of equipment check lists, each with their own suggestions of what to bring to be adequately prepared for the 6 or so days you will spend hiking on Kili. And that is that. Our first Kilimanjaro climbers of the Summer have stood aloft the peak of Africa and conquered what they set their minds upon achieving a mere 7 months ago. Although they are now back in the relative comfort of our hotel enjoying a well earned meal and shower they will undoubtedly have gained memories and a story which will last a lifetime.
