The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

And it begins...

The Path to $1 Million. How do we get there? Who makes it all possible? What is it all for? We hope to answer those questions and more over the coming month where the team and I will be visiting college campuses all over the northeast. Why? Well that's where the #PathTo1Million comes in. Our goal this year as an organization is to raise $1 million for charity through our various student-led university teams, using #PathTo1Million on social media to document our journey. This team effort involves a lot of different people coming together for an amazing cause, and this is exactly how we plan to accomplish that:

The Road Map

Assemble our Leaders
This year we began our focus with our student leaders. These are the individuals who will be leading and recruiting a team of 20 students to take on the adventure of a lifetime. Summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, climbing to the base of Everest or exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu are all trips our teams will be taking on this year. The first step in making this all possible is getting our leaders up to speed in terms of what we do here at Chose a Challenge, and how they can become effective leaders. For more on how we did this with this year's leaders, click here

Partner with Universities
We've partnered with 12 schools for the upcoming 2017/18 year.
During that process, we've identified a good mix of public and private institutions that reflect our mission and whose students seemed excited to get involved. Our goal this year is to build a solid foundation and relationship with these northeastern-based universities and then hopefully build upon that for years to come.

Hit the Road!
We've got our leaders, We've got our schools, so what's next? Hitting the road. The Choose a Challenge team has been booking rooms, making travel arrangements and laying out travel plans to visit schools all the way from Washinton D.C. to Boston in the month of September. This month-long journey is all about getting "feet on the ground" and helping our leaders recruit and build their teams.

Promote on Campus
Even before we get on campus, our team is responsible for laying out a masterful plan of attack for marketing these trips. This includes creating marketing materials, social media promotion and even an on-campus information meeting for interested students.

Team Sign-ups Begin
We came, We saw, We connected.
After our trip-specific information meeting events, we collect emails and refer any interested participants to team specific landing pages where they can sign up and register for one of only 20 spots. We cap teams off at 20 total students to ensure the quality and safety of each trip is the best it can possibly be.

You've got your team, you've got your deadlines, so now how do we raise all this money? Part of Choose a Challenge's unique model is partnering with established and experienced charities who offer each student access to fundraising tips, workshops, and strategies over the course of about 9 months in order to help everyone hit their fundraising targets. Each team will be raising around $100,000 for charity, which will all go towards the goal of $1 million total.

Go on the Adventure of a lifetime
You've come this far, you've done so much, and now it's time to go out and take on the challenge of a lifetime: going on your trip. No doubt this will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life and something that will certainly not only change your life but the lives of others as well.

What's Next

The What's Next section will feature upcoming destinations on our month-long campus road trip over the entire month of September. This will feature a good deal of social media content and posts about our upcoming information meetings with each of our leaders.

The first information meeting we have lined up is at George Washington University in Washington D.C.

Our entire team will head down to the nation's capital to visit our GWU leader, Phoebe Elizaga who will be leading a team to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in May 2018. To learn more about her team's trip, head over to the GWU team landing page or RSVP to the information meeting here

In the meantime, make sure to follow us on social media to get the latest on where we are and how we're doing on our #PathTo1Million . See you at the finish line!
