you can do it.

Finals: the word that make college students want to crawl into a hole and hibernate until winter break has begun.

After weeks and weeks of preparation (or last minute cramming, let’s be real), lots of coffee, and the strong will not to fall asleep during your exams, yup…it's here.

Here is a little inspiration, humor, and some helpful tips to get you through the week:

Take a Break

I cannot emphasize this enough. Rest your eyes for a bit. Head to the gym for a half hour. Chat with your roommate. Cook a nice meal. Take a shower. Run around the block. Have a spontaneous dance party.

Taking 20 to 30 minute breaks every 4 hours will do wonders. It seems simple but trying to push through 12 straight hours of studying that $300 world history book you haven’t touched all semester will leave you with less information than you started with (this may or may not be a real life example).

Redbull < Tea

If you down three red bulls and a gallon of coffee, sure…you might be awake but I guarantee you will be a jittery mess. Caffeine is always helpful but (cliche phrase ahead) only in moderation. Tea will keep you a bit more relaxed, boost your immune system, and increase your energy overall. To put things in perspective, one cup of coffee has 3x more caffeine than one cup of tea!

See your professor or a tutor

Have you been studying for hours and feel like your head is going to explode because there is a concept that is driving you nuts? Set up a meeting with your professor. He or she is there to help you and may be able to provide that extra bit of help to organize your thoughts. Getting a second opinion on a tough essay or exam can make all the difference.

Spend time with your friends

Let’s be honest. Finals are important but at times, these exams are built up to be this overwhelming end-all that will make or break your college career. At the end of the day, all you can do is put your best foot forward and try your hardest. It’s important to be prepared but also to de-stress and spend time with your friends. You are all going through this together and I guarantee you’ll remember your 2 am delirious giggling sessions with your best friends more than you would the evenings spent hermiting alone in your room with your eyes glued to a book.

Remember that in 5 and 1/2 months, you will be going on the adventure of a lifetime.

Just remember, that huge reward is just right around the corner. Soon enough, you’ll be hopping on a flight to go explore the world. You’ll be making new friends. You’ll be experiencing a new culture. You’ll be creating new memories and the thoughts of finals will be far far away. Doesn’t that sound lovely?

It’s almost over, guys.
